Agricultural Economy

At DEA Burundi, we provide practical, community-based training programs designed to empower individuals and promote self-reliance. Whether participants are developing new skills or beginning with little prior experience, our initiatives aim to strengthen long-term sustainability and economic independence. Through our Agricultural Economy program, developed in collaboration with community partners, we support rural farmers and local communities in making effective use of limited resources such as land, water, and labor. The program promotes sustainable agricultural practices, strengthens resilience against financial and environmental challenges, and encourages informed decision-making in areas such as trade, pricing, and market access from production to consumption. We also encourage the adoption of innovative farming methods, including vertical farming, aeroponics, and smart irrigation systems such as rainwater harvesting. These approaches help communities respond to resource shortages, improve productivity, and adapt to the growing impacts of climate change.

Online Short Course & Resources

In addition to our community-based training initiatives, DEA Burundi aims to expand access to learning through online short courses and educational resources. These programs allow individuals to gain practical knowledge and skills from the comfort of their homes, making learning more flexible and accessible to wider communities. Our course content combines case studies, locally informed perspectives, and open-access learning materials to provide relevant and applicable knowledge that can be used both within local communities and across broader regional contexts. We focus on topics that address everyday realities and the key social, economic, and financial challenges affecting communities. By promoting practical and informed decision-making, these courses aim to strengthen livelihoods, encourage sustainable development, and empower individuals with valuable lifelong skills.
